defintely go get the the check engine light code read so you know where to start. you can either take it to a lexus/toyota dealership or find a way to get a scanner and pull the code.

That's the pedal position sensor (throttle position sensor). Had that go up on my 98 GS3. Check engine light + vsc light + push pedal nothing happens. Fixed itself after sitting a bit on the side of the road, but had it replaced and then after that no problems.

Have you check the code yet? It could possibly say o2 sensor wire, last time i was driving and my check engine light as well as the vsc light came on, i replace the o2 and it went away. **** was really annoying...

i went to scan it this morning, but the result was ok, the guy said "if the problem come again don't unplug the battery, come to me to check it, because if u unplug the battery the car computer will reset and we can't find the problem". so i'm waiting for the problem to come again LOOLZ.

thanks guys

hey guys! I know I own the 2IS, but my older brother has the GS300. its a 1999 gs300 and really really bad taken care of. (meaning not many full maintenance check ups and etc)

We did have a similar problem as discussed by OP. The way to fix this, when we went to a autoshop, they said to clean the throttle body area.

They did it with us watching them clean it and etc, and yes everything turned off after that. I was pretty amazed....

the gunk and dirt caught on the entry way of the throttle body that has been building up since 1999.... oh boy.... unimaginable.

I hope this piece of information might help. thanks guys!

(symptoms when the lights were on, when we fully pressed the gas pedal, the lights would turn on. and sometimes after turning car off and on and waiting a couple of days, it would turn off. When we tried to purposely accelerate really hard again, the light showed up again. so guys i hope this can fix your problems!) -> lastly our intake filter... wow devastated when i saw it xD

P.S. a little out of the question but wow, next problem with the car is that we can't lock the driver side door when we press the lock button on car key. We have to physically push in the key in keyhole and lock it
Having some difficulty with this situation...

good luck guys!
