Default P0446

Hey guys! I need help on this one. I searched and I came up with only a few results. I got the P0446 a month ago and it's the Evap system. I checked the gas cap and all that and finally took it to a shop and used the smoke machine to see where was the problem. The mechanic said that the smoke was coming out of near the gas tank underneath the car. I wanted to make sure it's the charcoal canister. hmm any help?

The mechanic was too busy or lazy to bend over and see exactly where it was coming out? Have him hook it back up while on a lift so he/you can see under the car. That's the only way to "make sure."

Check to see if any of the vacuum hoses are cracked or damaged or clogged.

Your charcoal canister is above the differential. Do check the evap purge line in the engine compartment where the is a hose with a green cap on it see if it's connected to the intake component side. GL.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I can call him again so he can put her up on the lift to "make sure", but I jumped to conclusion and bought a charcoal canister from a 2003 for 280 shipped.

& I'll check the evap purge line.... I have the Injen intake for about 9months now and it hasn't given me any problems. hm.

I don't know where you guys live. But if you live in an area that is sunny, I don't think the canister would be defective that easily. I would high suggest you guys should put it on the lift and check the canister which is on top of the differential first. Check the condition and the vacuum lines first. Hope that helps.

4play4dr - I'm gonna have my car checked again on monday, and if I don't need the canister, and if you happen to need it, I'll sell it to you for what I paid for.
