Default Disabling steering column question

I have a 98' GS400 w/ power telescoping and tilt steering column. From what i have read, it seems that a trip to the dealership is required to disable this feature. I'm just wondering if anyone knows another way to do this (iE: pulling a fuse?) Any info is greatly appreciated!

The only real way of doing of it to my knowledge is to take it to the dealership as you stated. That type of setting is a C-Best (sp?) setting which only Lexus handheld programmers can change. I don't think any of those aftermarket programmers at Kragens, PepBoys, Autozone have that function. I would just take it to the dealership to have it done the right way to avoid electrical complications later. Or maybe find a Lexus Master tech who has the programmer and can do it on the side?
