Alright guys i tried doing some research on the problem im having with my ML stereo but i didn't have any luck finding a solution. been having this problem for almost 2 weeks now and each day just seems to get worst.

Problem: Static and speaker popping going around all speakers. Mostly sounds like it stays on the drivers side. the static sound isnt like static you would get from bad radio signal but more of like an electrical charge of some sort. then it would pop and all speaker sound goes away.

Things ive tried: looked for a loose ground but couldnt find any. turning off and on the whole car (engine and accessories) but only works as a temporary fix. thought it would be a loose wire from the amp all wires plugged in. fuses all good.

all the speakers work fine when it is actually working. im pretty sure its a ground i just dont know where to look.

please show me some CL love and help me out somebody anybody everybody

our amps had a recall a long time ago....could be the ML amp. mine acts crazy some days too. get in the car and the volume is ALL the way up... but im replacing mine soon so im not bothering messing with it

 

are we still entitled to the recall even if its old?

 

Sadly, not if you are out of warranty. The 2001 model amps have a lot of issues, its the same in the LS.

 

as grand said....no if the car is outta warranty.

 

so anybody got a solution for this problem besides maybe a bad amp?

 

On the ML system, what is the speaker symbol over the ASL for???? Does anyone know??? Its not covered in the manual, Please help!!!!!

ok, on the screen right above the ASL button there is a speaker symbol with 4 dashes. from I had the car it has not done anything, does not light up or flash if you touch nothing happens unlike the ASL switch that lights up....

 

Does anyone know what that symbol stands for????

 

since i swapped from the oem gen 2/3 to a gen 4 nav ecu i dont remember what this looks like, you got a pic to help out?
