Angry Help! E-shift button doesnt depress all the way.

I'm used to the nice clicking of shifting from gear to gear in manu-matic mode.

However, noticed last nite after a fast cruise home down the 101 at 2 am that my right down shift doesnt depress all the way.

Any one else have this problem? And what's the solution for the fix?

Thanks,
Goods

try some WD-40 or some standard house oil.

You need to stop playing spank the monkey in the car.

OK ..

so it's something physically preventing me from pushing the button in at all.

When I shift it into manual mode, there's a blinking M instead of the usual gear number.

I doubt oil would help this. Any suggestions that arent coming from the peanut gallery ?

I would take it back to the dealership, have them check it out. sounds like the button's broke.

Do you have this blinking problem with only one of the e-shift buttons or with both?

If its both, I doubt the problem is the button themselves. If its only one, good chance the e-shift button is shagged rotten!

Update:

I was originally concerned with the car, since it was out of "bumper to bumper" time warranty, so I called Lexus corp, and they advised I have the problem inspected.

Just got the car back from the dealer. I don't know what was wrong exactly, but Lexus replaced the steering wheel and the buttons work fine now.

As far as I can tell, they replaced the outer ring of the steering wheel, looks like the same physical buttons as well as airbag and horn.

When I went to the dealer over the weekend, I happened to take a look at the car while it was awaiting parts ... and saw that the center of the steering wheel (horn and airbag assembly) was removed and a bunch of wires, etc .. sticking out.

Anyways, I think the old steering wheel's leather had a different feel to it... but I can't remember since I've been actually working for the last 4 hours instead of reading CL postings.

Car has a hint of new car smell with the new steering wheel, and it's weird driving my own car after a week away from it.

Lexus has continually impressed me with their great level of service.

Oh, and just hit 50,000 miles this morning.

speaking of E-shift. I am thinking about making some change to the shift **** (replace the shift ****) to a type that has buttons or I can put my own buttons on it, I want to control Eshift from the shift ****, not the steering, since steering buttons only good if you drive a straight line (no turn). anybody know of any shift **** that I can get that have the button build-in already? tell me tell me
