Default Newbie Question...

I just bought a 2003 GS430...and I love it.

With the headlights in the "Auto" position, and when I lock the doors using a aftermarket keyfob...the lights do not shut off. The aftermarket key fob is for a remote car starter...I suspect this is the issue. Unless anyone knows if I'm able to adjust the factory settings/delay timing on the headlights?

I'm guessing I'll have to take it in to a shop that installs the remote starter unless there's some secret trick to adjusting the Lexus settings. I figure if anyone would know, someone here would. Thanks!!

FYI I've tinted the windows already, next is exhaust...fun stuff!

Welcome to CL! I know on the factory key fobs, when you press the lock button twice the lights shut off when set on auto. Also, if you give it 30 sec (i think) they shut off on its own.

On a side note... Once the modding begins there is no end to it. Good luck!

Welcome to CL! I don't have much to add, but Infamous 1 is right about how the factory system works to shut off the lights. They can adjust some settings at the dealer, I believe they are referred to as CBest settings, something like that (check out the stickied thread at the top about "cool things about the GS that are not well known" or similar), it's discussed in there. I'm not sure if they'd be able to change anything that would help your situation though.

Do you know what brand or model of alarm it is? You could try posting this in the Lexus audio, video, security & electronics section as well, there might be a better chance of finding someone with experience installing alarms and remote starts that could help you there!

Thanks for the warm welcome...

I got it fixed, it was totally the aftermarket remote...the installer needed to add another wire connection. I'm back in business...now it just needs to go faster!

Thanks again.
