Hey guys,

I thinking about removing my car's (2GS) resonators. I was wondering if anyone would recommend it? I'm not looking to make my car sound obnoxious, but I would like a more raspier exhaust note when revved. I'm completely new with this stuff, so any help and recommendations on how to ask a mechanic would be greatly appreciated.

I would..thinkin about doing that myself..or get the megan racing downpipe and custom mid pipe with stock exhaust.

If you remove the rear resonators and add a nice catback, you will have a good sound. I removed the 2 rear resonators + Magnaflow and it sounds great. Not really raspy but it has a deep, powerful tone. I don't have any sound clips though. Sorry.

Quite a few people here have their resonators removed. If you have a GS4, then you might not get the raspy noise you're looking for, but you also have to take into consideration the muffler you'll be using.

If you add a so call "catback" system, you will not need to remove resonators since the exhaust kit will come with a new pipe that replaces the stock pipe with the resonators. If you add a axle back then you would do that.

Removing the resonators wont increase performance, just noise. I took mine off my GS400, and loved the sound with the HKS Hi-Power axle back. Nice deep tone.

I did it on my GS300, it was $60 at a local shop.... After I had it completed I thought to myself "wow what a waste of money, I would have got more enjoyment out of buying a large bottle of Grey Goose" but after a couple weeks I've started to notice it the exhaust note is a little different. For example when you start your car up in the morning you can really hear a difference and tell that it isn't stock, also I heard a difference when I was driving in a underground parking lot.

Yes, axle-back. I forgot that many aftermarket catbacks include the new Y-pipe. I just had Magnaflow mufflers installed so I removed the resonators.

i've removed my resonators on my 1st gen GS3 and it didnt sound loud or raspy.it kinda sounded like a stock G35 or a 350Z.heres a link to my video
