Just remove the resonator.

Remove the rear muffler you mean?

or the fkking hideous huge middle one lol.

im seriously considering doing a twin system on mine, dual from the downpipes back, into two straight through (probably a couple of hooker aerochambers or the likes) and then a xpipe and another two rear mufflers and dual tips...

well you could drop the rear muffler and tailpipe as per the above post, f you like that sound id thoroughly suggest
getting a proper tailpipe made up though as youll only fill the car with nasty exhaust fumes....

OP's in California...he probably wouldn't pass his nanny-state smog check if he removes the catalytic converter. Maybe same issue if he removes the resonator.

Whatever he adds needs to have the appropriate CARB approval sticker.

See above. Given your state's attitude on engine modifications, it may be loud but I doubt that it will be "kinda' cheap".

I find that removing the air box and having the car suck air straight from the engine bay, unfiltered, gives the car a real "mean" sound!

In all seriousness, check and see what kind of CAI are available for Tundra/Sequoia/LC/LX 5.7L applications. You won't gain any horsepower, which makes it a bad buy for your dollars IMO, but they tend to create more intake noise than the stock air box.

Not only do you get more noise, you get less horsepower and torque.

If you think your cold air intake for $300 will get you more HP and / or torque than what Toyota engineers have been working with and tweaking for the last decade, you might want to examine your thought processes.

I agree fully, they are a terrible buy.

K&N used to publish absurd figures a few years back in magazine ads claiming anywhere from 10 to 40 additional horsepower from their silly kits. There was probably a lawsuit at some point because the claims all disappeared.

i tested mine sans rear muffler, and i do like it a bit....

does anyone know the size of the flange at the join before the rear muffler? i recall that its a V band flange but i forgot to measure it... im going to buy some tube and bends and do a rear section replacement i think.

Bye bye refinement.

No thanks.
