for all of you who had lowered your GS, does anyone discover that some of the parts are a bit loose in the interior? like sunroof, glovebox etc... Coz after I lowered my GS for a few months, I always hear some sound like shaking or loosen screws in the interior, just wondering if anyone has this kinda problem after they've lowered their GS. The sound is so annoying to me when I am driving.
It is normal when you stiffen and lower your suspension to change the dynamics of the car and usually that will rattle some things in the interior. My car did the same. It either quiets down or you just have to implement some fixes. I have mine quiet now. My only problem was a rattle in the sunroof.
The dealership gave me a real hard time when I took it in. They were basically A$$holes about it.
I then asked them what if I had L-tuned suspension...???
Then the tech quickly shut his mouth about things not being covered under warranty and knew that I had him in a corner.
Needless to say, they will give you a hard time.
Hope it helps.

for the sunroof...
If your car is pre 2000 there is a fix where they use some kind of foam pads inside the sliders for the sunroof.
My problem was somewhere in the shade actually.....My GF actually fixed it for me. It was some sort of ticking noise.

I have the exact problem on mine. Seems the shade pops back about 1/2" by itself while I drive and then 'ticks'. If I push it closed again, the ticking stops, for a while until it pops back.
Originally posted by kevs I'm having some problems with my TEINs. I just lowered it tonight and I'm getting a "knocking" noise on my driver's side rear when I go over bumps.
Can anyone help with specific details? Thanks in advance.
I have the same problem with my TEINs. And I can't seem to find anyone that knows how to fix it. Has anyone else experience this and knows of a solution?
I think the foam will work for temporary only right?....after a while, the shade will start ticking again.......... if you put a foam pad there, will it affect the opening or closing of the sunroof?
Okay, so I went back to my mechanic today and he found the problem right away.
The TEINs come with a cream colored rubber bumper for the rear coilovers. This needs to be replaced! The rubber bumper is too small and will slip through, yes slip through the rear strut (or whatever goes into the trunk part of the car). Therefore, the "knocking" sound comes from the lack of dampening of the rear coilovers.
To fix this problem, you'll need to take out both rear coilovers, take out the cream rubber bumper and use your stock GS bumper (black colored) that was on the rear originally. The stock rubber bumper is thicker than the TEIN, which gives more padding. My ride is soooo sweet right now because of the fix. Now all I need is an alignment........
I have the stock 17"s and have not lowered (yet). But at 50K I have the most annoying rattles.
It started with the sun roof which had apparently already had the TSB fix. First it only rattled with the liner closed but slipped that 1/2". Then it rattled when closed all the way. Now it rattles with the liner closed or open. I can even hear it now with the sunroof raised! And the passenger door is starting to buzz/rattle over bumps.
I'm well past the point of the dealer blindly looking for rattles. But they have attacked any area I can pinpoint. (Yes, that's me weaving down the road trying to triangulate those nasty noises. )
My long term solution is two fold. I will eventually remove and reset every darn panel in the car. And I will get a loud exhaust (had some nice flowmasters on my lightning).

Thanks kevs!!! I'm going to take it to the mechanic this weekend to have it look at.
Rattles, eh sooo annoying. My 1st gen LS has a rattle in the damn sunroof that I can't pinpoint exactly and another under the rear interior mirror. The dealer charges to put the foam in?
