my door locks arent making me happy
is there a main control box or module that controls the power door locks on the 2gs? mine is an 03 model 300.the rear driver quit, then it moved to the passenger front and now its the driver front.
also you know when you shift the car from park to reverse or drive, they wont accuate either. i doubt the motors are just failing altoghter. im just not down with paying 160 bucks @ the dealership for them to tell me i need _____....
can anyone shed some light on this

most likely your door lock actuators. And yes, they can fail all at once. I recently rebuilt a few for a CL member and we did 3 of the 4 actuators because we didn't think the last one would die since it worked fine that day. Next thing you know, I get a call the next day and the last actuator died out. When you lock/unlock all the doors at the same time, they wear out almost evenly.
9 outta 10 its your actuators. just replaced the ones in my front doors ('03 gs430) and one went bad in my last 2nd gen gs as well... the problem is so common carson toyota actually had a group buy going on here for them for a while... best price you are going to get if you decide to buy new is still from carson, contact luis in parts @ 800-908-6968, tell him you're from CL.

i'm to cheap to replace it yet since it hasnt fully died on me. so i end up having to pull the door lever after i lock just to make sure the car is locked.
That is a programable option in our vehicle. You can tell it to lock when the vehicle is shifted to reverse or drive and unlock all door when shifted into park, or simply turn it off. Which i am assuming your car has been programmed to do. There is more on this, there called CBERT options around here, at the dealer there programable options.
i think its a flaw too or more like bad design. i own various cars and this is the only car i ever experienced with this problem. my driver side goes bad when it is hot out, mostly during summer time. first time i didnt know about it and was shocked my door wasnt locked and my system could had been stolen because of that.

I have to think that the actuators are just not up to traditional Lexus/Toyota standards. My 98 GS4 has gone through two sets already by the previous owner through warranty. This was within 4 or 5 years of ownership. On the other hand my 92 Cressida is still running strong on original door lock solenoids and its got over 280K miles on it.

all previous cars ive owned have had power locks and never once have i had this type of problem except in my gs's.. its fixed now though, so whatever i guess.
