Question Door Locks, Question ...

Ok so I know our door lock actuators suck, let me start by saying that. But now I need to know if I'm just seriously unlucky or if there may be something else behind this.

For just over a year now, my front driver side and rear passenger side door locks have not worked. The driver front does not work at all (lock or unlock) but the passenger rear does work when unlocking, but not when locking. Now all of a sudden my passenger front lock is going out, it will unlock as well but will not lock. The only one that has no issues (yet) is the driver rear lock.

Now could I just be unlucky and have all my actuators going bad one by one, or could this be an electrical problem, or maybe something with the fuses? I know most guys have one or maybe two locks stop working, but three? Someone please chime in with suggestions !!

Anyone know where i can buy new ones other than a dealership? I don't want to buy used ones because eventually they will just go out again ...

Someone needs to buy them in bulk and resale them for a reasonable price. These motors are awfully overpriced nowadays.

Tell me about it man...a few years ago when I got my car, all my actuators worked, and the prices was cheap. Now, one's out, and another is going out and they are much more money

I guess in terms of absolute cost, it's not that expensive, but it's sure isn't cheap like it use to be. I think they were maybe $11 shipped for 3-4 a while back.

Yes, $10 for those simple little motors is very expensive considering motors just like them are normally had for a $1 or $2 and often less then a dollar. Most likely it is well known by now Lexus door lock actuators are so prone to failing and there is a DIY so sellers have jacked the price up on them to take advantage of buyers. When I saw the $8-10 prices at first I was expecting to get them in a 8-10 bundle for that price instead of just 1. The price keeps creeping up on them.

Well if you need it, then buy it. It's sure a lot cheaper than buying a new actuator from Toyota.
