I did the smart thing and took my car to a place I trust that is just a little bit further away. I actaully should have taken it there initially. They inspected my front left caliper and sure enough it found it to be stuck. Now they did say that it is possible to fix it which would only cost $40, but if the piston doesn't compress then I'll have to cough up 230 bucks (grand total) for a replacement. The brand that they'll be using is Centric. I'll be taking it back in tomorrow morning.
Good news. I actually just had that clicking noise also yesterday while driving around in a parking garage. Same thing. Left turn only. It went away today though, so I don't know.
I had the same problem. My right front side caliper got stuck. It completely ate through my rotors and my caliper is totally shaved up. Yes yes I know I should've realized it earlier, but I just bought a caliper set from a CL member for 85$ both sides. I'll be replacing both soon. Good luck on your problem!
So I received my pads yesterday and just returned from a free brake inspection from meineke. They told me that everything is fine. Calipers, pads, rotors--- no issues. Who should I believe?!!?
Yeah I think this concludes my relationship with Meineke. Especially since I found another place that installs customer supplied parts that will charge me for how long it acutally took them versus how it long it could have taken them to doa job if they get it done quick.
Either way my GS is in the shop right now and I'm waiting on that phone call. Hopefully they cana fix it versus replace.
Just got it back and all is good! No more stick for now. 45 bucks was all it cost me. I still think I'll hold on to those akebono pro act pads that I got. Never know when I'll need them next. Thanks gsteg and everyone else for the great advice.
