Default Need a second opinion on this front end vibration...please.

So heres the deal. This vibration is getting annoying as hell. It's not so bad all the time, sometimes its real smooth and then other times its pretty violent. I notice that in stop and go traffic the vibration gets real bad and the wheel shakes from left to right. The car still tracks nice and straight, on a flat road I can take my hands completely off the wheel and it will not pull. Also after I come to a stop and take my foot off the brake pedal I hear a clunk from both wheels.

When it gets pretty violent I usually brake hard from about 45 mph to a stop and then it smooths out afterwards.

I replaced the pads and rotors and the caliper sliding pins. So now I'm thinking its actually the calipers themselves.

I'm just looking for another opinion before I change the calipers since they're pretty expensive. So what do you guys think?

Also does anyone know where I can get calipers on the cheap?

Thanks

Check your rear pads, rotors, shims, etc.

Front Suspension might be worn (ball joints are the usual culprit)

Also mounts, 85% of vibration issues come from a worn transmission mount.

Check those out first.

one of your calipers are no good i just had the same problem. it's intermittent. go to each caliper and try to push the pistons back and you will find it

/\ If any of your caliper pistons can't be pushed in easily with a pair of large pliers it's siezed, also look for tears in the rubber around the pistons.

As stated above, check braking system up front. One of calipers is prolly seized and rotor warped. I had the same issue where at certain times it felt like I was in an earthquake in the car (slight exaggeration lol) but it shook violently. It was also internmittent. All went away when I upgraded calipers, pads and rotors.

Most likely it's the bad lower ball joints because it's a common problem with the 1st gen GS especially vibration when braking hard but fine while driving.
