Question Newb Questions: Maintenance?

I'm definitely a newb on the forums here so if this stuff is somewhere else on the site feel free to link me to where the info is.

I currently have a 2005 Mustang GT with some mods done to it (4.10 gears, Cold Air Intake, Tune, Lower Control Arms). Insurance is a little high on the car and I would get a little bit of a break by going to a GS300/400. I have a few questions. What is reasonable mileage for a GS 300/400 priced around $15,000? Also, what is the maintenance on a GS 300/400 with higher mileage?

Thanks in advance!

You prolly can get a GS400 with about 80 to 100K miles for $15K
its recomeded to change the usuall timing belt and the whole works at about 90Kmiles around $1200 worth of work.
GL man,
I got a Turbo Mustang FoxBody also, hate to see you loose yours though GS is still pimp

I think we need a sticky to tell all the noobs what regular maintenances are needed for a 98-00 model. I'm seeing the same new thread every week.

I bought a 98 GS400 a few weeks back, 75K for mid teens. Great car, you will really like it coming out of a Mustang. I have a 5spd fox vert (92 Feature) in the garage for those sunny days. The stock GS is faster then the 5.0 with simple mods (cold air, 3.55, pullies)

Whatever you do though, get the 400 especially coming from a GT. You will not regret it.

Ken
98 GS400 -stock for now!

Sorry man. Like I said, just link me to the correct places and I'll be happy to lurk and read if all the stuff has already been said before.

And thanks for the advice guys. I figured timing belt and all that was probably gonna have to be changed. Anything major or is this a relatively maintenance free car?

oh, no need to apologize. Just saying we should have a sticky for future references since a lot of information gets spread out to different threads.

anywho, back on topic, timing belt, serpentine belt, lower ball joints/outer tie rods should be the only major ones.

I found that GS for $11,980 at a local dealer with 119,000 on it.

The description:
XENON HEADLISGHTS, Sunroof, Leather, Spoiler, Lots of Extras including 20" Chrome Foose wheels and 20" Nitto NT555 tires 245/35/20 front and 275/30/20 Rear....Premium Ibach 1" Lowering Suspension springs made for factory lexus suspension....Clear corner lenses... Custom painted grill

Good deal or not? I honestly have no idea (been more of a domestic guy for my short life as a driver and don't know values on any import basically )

Edit: It's a 1998 GS 400, sorry I didn't specify beforehand.

It doesn't look like it's had anything major done though as far as modding. See if you can get maintenance records but the car looks pretty clean.

The expensive cosmetic stuff has been done; and on a college budget that's perfectly OK with me lol

Alright, thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. You guys are definitely a lot more helpful than I was expecting. All the other forums that I saw when I googled didn't have much activity so I guess I wasn't expecting this quick of a response. Thanks a lot guys!

Haha it was supposed to be hoboattacker but I guess there was a limit that I didn't catch ops: It's my SN on all the other forums I'm on heh.

Hopefully I'll find one soon. Since I'm having to sell my car I'm itching to get rid of it, even though I love it
