Default Really want an answer!!

i appreciate all the responses to my last question about the self-leveling HID but i guess i dint phrase the question right. on '98 GS4s when you turn the lights on, do they lower and then come back up? i checked all of the things that you guys said, and yes it would seem that i have factory HIDs (marking stick under the hood, etc) really just want to know if they act like the ones on newer Lexi and benzies. thanx again.

Default HID

Was HID an option in 98? If not this may still be someone's retrofit from a later model's HID parts and they likely would not have gone to the trouble of installing the front and rear wheel height sensor and the assiciated wiring harnesses.

Don't inadvertantly get had by the Lexus dealer if his fix is to do all of that work and then hand you the bill.

wwest,

Yes, HID was an option in 98 (both Dexter and I have it on our 1998 GS400s).

Dr Rick - I live up in the University area (near intersection of WT Harris and Sugar Creek) and Dexter is more south of town.

Also - my HIDs do lower and raise, but it happens (or I notice it mostly) when I start the car and flip the lights on for the first time. Quite noticable then - probably less so when the car is moving and more noise is being generated.

Talking

DrRick, I do not believe that there's a chiropractic adjustment for ptosis (droopy lids). This also means, of course, that they are not adjusting downwards at times they should, endearing you even more to the oncoming drivers who already love to ***** about our HIDs.

It'll actually be the rare GS4 that doesn't have HIDs, since they were a part of most of the Lexus option packages prior to becoming standard on the GS430.

Didn't know till I posted the previous statement unedited that our veterinary members would be excluded from discussing female dogs (aka, b*tch) until I posted the term "*****".

Mike certainly has a tight rein on the potentially naughty words!

Default yep

Yes
Turn key on, lights get real blue ,then a little lighter
Lights go down, then up, then down into position.
So nice to see, bystanders others really love it which means-I love it.

Oh and yes, they do this at a moderate speed. Not fast, not slow

In '98 I don't think they were part of the Premium Package, they were a separate $500 option. In '99 maybe or certainly in 2000 (when I got mine) it was part of the Premium Package or just standard.

Bit, you're right. It was a $500 option I chose not to get on my 98 GS400. Didn't think it was worth it on a 39 month lease. By the end of the lease I knew I wanted them on my 430 -- and I really do like them now that I have 'em.
