Default HID? Dumb Question

Ummm....This may be a dumb question but....here goes....How can I tell if my car has HID headlights or not? My left front headhight has a moisture problem and I want to replace it. I have been looking on eBay and there are some for sale, some say HID and some say Non HID. Can someone please tell me how to tell the difference? I have a 98 GS400 Gold Package car with a nakimichi system if that helps.

THanks,,,

newbie

What happens with the headlights when you first turn them on? Does the light move up and down? If so, that is your HID auto-leveling motor at work. You can also check the bulb to see if they are D2R (HIDs) or 9006 (Halogens).

shut off your car, turn the headlight all the way to auto. turn on the car, look at the headlight beam and see if they go all the way down, and then go up again and stop somewhere. if so, you have hid. if not, you don't

If you are blinded by the extreme white light, then they are HIDs.

Don't forget the yellow fog lights (if the car is stock).

its not really that hard to tell. if the lights are yellow-ish, they're halogen, if they're white...hid.
