Default hood latch problem

I went to change my oil the other day and after all was done the hood wouldnt close. I could not figure out why but it seemed like the cable was stuck and the inside latch was pulled out all the way and wouldnt go back in. He was messing with the lock up front and finally got it to close but told me not to open it. This has never happend before, it always worked flawlessly. Ive never used this mechanic before but i was watching the whole process and he never even came near that latch so its not his fault. Is this a common problem, any idea of a quick fix?

no one knows? im worried about opening the hood thinking it wont close. This just happend out of nowhere.

Also, i think while he was trying to fix the hood, he mightve caught something to disable the running lights near the headlight when the headlights are on. Right now i only have the headlights on, not the two in the middle. If i shut the headlights off, the DRL comes on.

make sure the latch is not bent , i had a similiar problem and the latch was bent out of place , you have to line it up, also make sure the latch is not seized.

the cable sticks what i do at work is: there is a small rectangular hole on the top of the latch, i take a flat head screwdriver stick it in there and jiggle the screwdriver side to side a few times and the cable should return to the correct position.

I had to swap the cable on mine. Check your hood release handle to see if it stays stuck out. Mine wasnt going back into place because the cable was getting stuck. I just used plyers for a while to push the cable back in untill I fixed it.

I had the same problem but here's what I did...facing your engine, to your right by the headlights, there are wires running under the frame to release your hood latch. Pull on it, and try closing it again. I do this when my hood acts up. Good luck

well yesterday i was attempting to change my spark plugs and had to open the hood. At first it got stuck and wouldnt close, so i sprayed lube through the straw all around the lock and some of the cable. Then i went inside the car and sprayed the lube behind the handle to open the hood, all up in there. After the next shot, all is well. THanks for everyones help.
