Door Lock Acutuators DIY ???
Having 2 or 3 of these crappy actuators go out can cost as much as major engine work.
I replaced my drivers door lock actuator about a year ago and now the other three doors have failed. I just want to buy the factory actuator but would like to find the cheapest price. Does anyone know the best source for these? I bought my drivers door actuator from Lexus Sacramento I think it was around $280 I was hoping I could find them a little cheaper than that. Thanks for any help.

Between my GS having very few issues and the fact that there is so much good information on this site I can almost always just do a search to find what I need. So I haven't had to post much.
Right rear door actuator (Part #: 69130-30110) [$90]
Left rear door actuator (Part #: 69140-30110) [$90]
i know you can do the same for the fronts, but i dont have the part numbers readily available... i am sure somebody else can point you in the right direction.
edit** just seen in a search that some people are using toyota avalon actuators in place of the lexus ones.
69110-06010 for the driver's side door...

john knows this....he has seen this thread before, think he's just being lazy again
keep in mind the drivers door actuator DOES change for the 98-00 to the 2001+ models and they cannot be swapped.

Thanks for the share.
I just completed the rear door actuator motor replacement. Really kudo's for all that submitted as they learned. The rear door panel was really easy to remove, didn't break any of the snaps that I have done in the past. After removing the screws to remove the actuator, lift the door handle from the outside to ease the assembly out. The actual motor casing is a sealed unit and is easy to break. The 2 case halves are tongue and groove and bonded together. I used a utility knife between the case halves to cut through the tongue and groove. If you try to pry before you have cut through, you will only end up breaking the case. Give yourself 15 minutes to do the job, be careful not to cut yourself and you can get the case apart in 2 pieces. Makes it easier to glue back together. I thought of using a Dremel tool but after seeing how much grease is inside the unit, all the dust/debris from a Dremel tool would probably muck up the works. I did put a piece of foam tape on the side opposite the electrical contacts to give it more contact force (the original motor also had some foam tape on it). Oh yeah, the coupling is hard to get off but do it just like the picture. I bent a few nails (blunt them first). Took about 3 hours including a trip to the local hardware store for a Torx 30 bit so that plus the $1 motor saved me over $200!
hey guys just to let you know i fixed my two front ones using the motor out of a 99-2000 honda accord trunk accuator... same exact motor and you dont have to that that fitting off the shaft to switch out it has it on there... there all over the junk yards and those motors rarely go out... if they do ... hell theres tons more out there... just saying... thought id share... i didnt use a dime to fix mine just some time hunting.
Just changed out the front Passenger motor. Took about 3 hours. Splitting that casing is a pain. Thanks for the diy. Two down, one more to go
make that 3 down zero to go... however on the last door, when i went to take the panel off, i noticed the plastic fasteners on the inside door latch were busted. they were definitely broken prior to me removing the panel because i was extra careful when taking it off. I used some locktite epoxy to glue the ends back on the cables... do you guys think that will hold? or will i have to replace the assembly... thanks for your help.

It is not that funny and would be the right thing to do on this major and expensive design defect. Lexus knew about this issue/design defect long before the 3rd Gen GS even came out and did absolutely nothing about it, they still had the nerve to charge owners the high price for new crappy actuators that still failed and had no issues with dealers charging high prices to install the actuators. This problem from a most likely 4 or 5 dollar plastic and cheap motor part costs owners normally around $500 per incident(they pretty never pay to fix it out of warranty) if they are not under warranty and don't know about the fix. It must be nice for Toyota and dealers to rake in all that money on a faulty design.

OR - since it only costs $10 for the MOTOR on eBay (which is the part that breaks), you could buy 2 or 3 of those and fix it yourself with the awesome guide given in the forums....
I fixed 3 doors (we own 4 Lexus GS300's.. company cars end up mine after 150k) using these forums.
Got the motors from eBay by searching for FC280PC-22125.. Searched the cheapest seller. If you need one with a brass collar, look in his store. he has those too.
Even if you can't figure out how to fix it yourself.. u could take the motor to a mechanic and he'd be able to install it for FAR LESS than lexus would.
