Default Why do people remove the "L"???

Hey I've seen many GS's on this board that have their front and rear "L's'' removed fromt heir grill and rear. Why in gods name would you want to do that? Do you people not want others to know what company the car is? Their are many people out their who won't know what it is, because many people aren't car knowledgeable. I would sport the "L" everywhere I go if I had my GS right now =]

some people think the car's rear looks alot cleaner and subtle without any badges. I think removing the center L is too extreme. But everyone's taste is different, so oh well.

removing L is all right. Last time I saw a white GS with emblem "Aristo 430". I've seen all kind of weird combination of emblems on GS.

the most common weird one I see is V400.

Once I've seen GS430 and LEXUS, but they're on the WRONG SIDES......

Here in Europe there are a lot of peole that drive High End cars that remove the type badges. They do not want other peole to know what they bought.

Having the clean look is nice. If a person CAN'T TELL that a GS (with its unique shape) is a lexus then the person(s) must be living in a cave for the last 4 years .

Having no badges at all looks nice on a car if its hooked up correctly.

Some people don't care what others do / don't know about their car.

I was in NJ at Englishtown last weekend taking my car out for the quarter mile run. I had to edumacate (educate) couple folks on what the GS is. This is the situation. I was leaning on my car when a gentleman and his friends ask me what type of car I have. I told them it was a Lexus GS400. They ask me where it is. What a Lexus GS 400? Although I was leaning on my car I have to point it out to them……hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I spent some time in Germany, and it seemed to me that all of the BMW's and Merc's that had their badges removed were generally the lower end ones. Generally the badges I saw were of the 540, S500, etc. I never saw badges of 318, etc. I always assumed people removed the badges off their cars to hope people think they have a more expensive car then they really do.

In checking out his car, I could not help but notice the absence of E-shift and the leather shift ****, it was a GS 300.

I lost a lot of respect for that dude......

in situations like those, I would say "hey man, can I check out your engine?"

that's where the fun starts.......

Cool

If you want 10 year old Vans racing with you go ahead and remove the L. When my dealer painted the trunk of my GS430 they forgot to put the L and other Badges back on. Every Van and car in the World was trying to race me until I had the Badges put back on.

The only reason I took off my L is because it kept getting stolen, so I said screw it and left the back one off

You asked and answered your own question in this post...
If you know what you have and others do not know, they dont need to know.(any knowledgable car person would)...Im not advertising for Lexus.....Did you get a Lex so that other people would see it and say "wow, thats a Lex"? If that is the case doesnt it apply to the old ES250 also????
