Why do people remove the "L"???
I have all my rear badges shaved and I have Aristo taillights (says Aristo instead of GS300). I still have the front L, but my grill has been custom painted to match the car (was originally chrome), so that included paiting the L up front. And with the Aristo taillights and body kit, no one has any idea wtf my car is. No one knows that is a Lexus most of the time because like I said unless you know what the car looks like really well, the "L" on the front is the only way to tell and that is very subtle because it blends in because of the color. But with the body kit, wheels, etc etc most people are completely clueless.
Many people de-badge for a number of reasons....
As said in earlier posts, some do it becuase they don't want people to know that their car is either a low end model, or a high end model (I personally could care less what model someone has, as long as the car is nice).
Some people de-badge because it looks clean.....I like it. I think that certain badges look cool, and certain ones just add clutter. The Lexus L is certainly clean looking, but it is also cool to have nothing at all there. If I had a GS, and someone didn't know it was a lexus just because the badge was gone, I really wouldn't care to know their opinion on my car.
On mercedes, I prefer just to have the MB star on the rear, rather than the model, the star, and whatever tuner logo is on there (AMG, carlsson, lorinser, whatever). I certainly don't think the car looks bad with the badges on there, I just pefer not having them, regardless of the model. A true enthusiast will know what model you car is, without looking at the badges.
Mixing badges is lame......If I had a GS, I think I would get the aristo badges, and remove the lexus badge from the grille (I wouldn't replace it with a toyota emblem, just leave it blank). The little Aristo badge on the back is sweet.
I see way to many mixed badge rides cruising around.....Lexus altezza, non AMG benz with AMG badges, RS camaros with Super Sport badging, and the list goes on. Badging can get you into ricer territory very easily. Might as well get an "Uncle Bens" badge for you ride if you are going to mix brand names/badges!

i also hear a lot of europeans really enjoy the sleeper look of debadging. allows for easy kills on the high roads. i took off my "lexus" and "GS 300" emblem to stick on an "aristo" badge but thought it looked so clean with just the "L," and the aristo will just sit around.
My vote goes for "L"s and "GS###" .. but no "LEXUS" .. i also think the model number looks better on the left than on the right.. i think Lexus' symbol is well know enough that it doesn't need the actual word right there.
