Default Can this really be an Aristo?

I was checking Ebaymotors today and came across this ad for a Lexus GS Aristo?? I thought only Toyota makes the Aristo?

Here's the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...item=598048530

Is this a real Aristo or someone buying the emblem and calling it one? and can someone point out if its not one, and why? Thanks!

It says right there, 1998 Lexus GS300.

There are also couple places that show it's indeed a Lexus GS, not Aristo.

(1) The driver seat is at the left hand side. As we all know, in japan, the driver seat is at right hand side. And the whole console is totally inverse. (right -> left, left -> right)

(2) The front bumper is clearly a Lexus GS. Why? Because only GS has the side markers on the front bumper. If you check Aristo, they have the side markers here. http://store6.yimg.com/I/lexusparts_1659_2564635

(3) Steering wheel. Yeah, a guy could mod that but if he really had an Aristo (Toyota), why would he want to mod it like a GS (Lexus). What was the point of buying Aristo at the first place?

(4) Check the vehicle number.

This one is a fake one.

This must have been a "fixed up" one that was stripped down to the basics...

Aristo...what a j a c k a s s !!

That gold looks HIDEOUS! JEEEZ! Who would want to ghettoize their GS like that...bleah!

Why not just get gold window trim and gold wheels...that light trim is ugly as ****! Makes the GS look like some Pep-Boys special...

Carfax stated that this car was a corp fleet car and it was first registered in MO, and it's a GS300 not an Aristo.

I am still not sure why the dude said it was an Aristo.

he might have added that just so it would pop up if you typed "aristo " on Ebay, he does mention that its a GS300 and he never stated that its a genuine aristo. It also looks like the kirts are from the cybertype 1 from vis racing

I think the seller presented a strong case that he had an Aristo offered for sale. Given the information presented yesterday, an uneducated buyer might have thought it was an Aristo. The ebay and seller's site have been edited so now it does not promote the car as an Aristo. When I saw it last night, it stated in their book price section that the price was for a gs and in parentheses stated the price was not for the Aristo. It implied that the car for sell was an Aristo and the book price was only for a GS300.

My guess is that the person got wind that it was not an Aristo even though it had the badge and skirts, and he had the sites edited. He probably was not an educated Lexus buyer, and when he bought it in an auction, he thought has was buying something truly unique. The link to the sellers site still offers the "Lexus GS300 Aristo" for sale.
