That's wrong! The 98-99 GS 300 did not come with engine covers but the 2000-05 did! Here is my 2000 with one and an RMM strut bar! It does touch but I have had no problems with it, so far!:

And this is a GS that was made BEFORE aug/sep 2000?
The reason im asking is that its not like Lexus/Toyota to make such cosmetic changes outside the usuall midlife revamps

did you have to make any holes to bolt it to or was it just the strut bar holding it in place. also, did it touch any part of the engine part/throttle body?
I did actually. I had to cut the whole rear section of the cover and also make a cut for the throttle cable lever. small cut. I actually still have this cover in my garage. Maybe later today I'll snap a pic of the rear so you can see where I had to cut..
