Pull-out GPS on my GS4
Pop in the GPS...
Turn it on..
Still need to finish hardwiring in the audio and power (eliminate that huge plug) wireless mouse, ATI TV wonder, a 40x4 LCD, and winamp controller..
Rather upset that Ricochet went out of business and blew my fun
I think the small laptop idea is cool but it's blocking your A/C vents. And it kinda sticks out alittle too much on the top.......
I AM SO SORRY TO SAY THIS INFRONT OF EVERY BODY BUT THAT HAS TO BE THE UGLIEST AFTERMARKET NAVAID CONCEPT I HAVE SEEN YET! I understand that the after market navaids are very exspensive so I won't give you too much crap.
Globe, I did have to remove the center vent (and plug the vents) to get to the mounting bolts, most of the computer kits for cars require drilling a mounting arm into the floor which I didn't want. There's a huge space back there for all sorts of gadgets. The plate is a little too big since I originally made it for a Mitsubishi XP touchscreen pentablet, but it turned out to be too much of a thief magnet (no undocking unit), and the touchscreen coating had too much glare. I'll cut it down later.
Banana, I have StreetAtlas 8 I think, you can kinda resize the routing table but... I was originally going to use a 6.7" VGA panel and a pc104 imbedded PC, but SA's routing table really does use up 1/2 the screen at 640x480. The Lib has an 800x480 screen so it only takes up about a third. I also have Streets&Trips on there, but I don't like it as much.
Boricua, Yeah, it's not as pretty as a streetpilot, but I didn't do this to save money.. I just want a computer which I can run high resolution mapping software, pull a random set of MP3s off my server every morning with wireless, run activesync to Xfer my mileage and tasks data to Outlook which relays it to my work machine, 11mbps remote access to the corporate internet connection on weekends, records my TV shows during the day to watch during lunch, run MAME, etc. I can even hook a spycam to watch my car during the day. If the GS was FWD, I could get a center floor console notebook mount like the cops use, but it's not, and finally, there's no cutting/drilling involved
The ATI TV Wonder is actually a combination A/V capture unit, TV tuner, and real time hardware MPEG encoder in one, the software downloads TV listings from the net. When the time comes, it automatically saves it to the hard drive. It looks pretty good on the small screen, the resolution is just about right for off-the-air broadcasts. The capture port can be fed from any NTSC source + audio, like a reverse cam or an IR-sensitive mini-ccd for the front
