Any of you use your E-Shift? It's been a long time since I've used it. Last weekend as I was getting ready to hit the on ramp to I-275, I flipped the shifter over to 'M' . On the highway E-Shift is like a game controller in my hand, I forgot how much fun it can be. Once I relearned the timing on down-shifting to mashing the gas pedel, I was again able to put a serious amount of HP and TQ to work instantly. Made for much faster passing. Man...was it fun. I don't know why it was taken out of the GS430 model. I like playing with it...on my aggressive day.

E-Shift...
Same here! I got so used to putting the stick in the M mode, that I now always put in M mode automatically and play with the e-shift quite often - especially in passing maneouvers etc.

That's the key for me. Friends say it's slower than a stick or auto, which it is. So for knee-jerk shifting it's sluggish. That doesn't say it can't be purposeful when you know you want to shift, like on a pass.
I like dropping gears if I need to slow down quick, rather than mashing the brakes.
Honestly, I'd rather have radio controls mounted on the steering wheel than e-shift. The e-shift seems a little gimmicky to me. I almost never use it. Occasionally I'll use it to slow down, but that's about it.

I used to use it all the time for slowing down and for holding a certain gear during point and squirt manuvers! I loved the eshift for that, conversely I dont think i ever really used it to upshift. I used to love to hold 2nd or 3rd gear and listen to those L-SPORTLINE mufflers!
Never had a car that had it or something similar, so I guess I don't know what I'm missing. Pushing the pedal down works awfully well, if it's not quick enough then grabbing the shift lever works pretty darn good.
Me too...I use mine around town a lot. Leave it in 3 and the throttle response is amazing! I like to have the car in the powerband sometimes without having to wait for a downshift (or two). I don't use it for braking purposes at all unless I am on a long descent, I might drop it down a gear...
I really like e-shift and don't miss a manual most of the time!
