Default Should I have mesh inserts painted?

Hey guys. My GS is in the bodyshop having custom work done. I am having honeycomb designed mesh inserts installed in the rear bumper in the same fashion as the L-sportline bumper, and also installing inserts on the front bumper similar in style to the upcoming CLK 63 AMG. Carbon fiber roof is in the works. The mesh is aluminum, and the body guy indicated that it would match the wheels and emblems perfectly if left unpainted. Should I have my body guy paint it black along with the car, or just leave it aluminized?

Leave it unpainted for sure. It will add that extra "wow" factor to the mod.

I can Adrian. He said he will see if i like it as is. If i don't he said that he can spray it black for me. I also suggested that i have the car compounded. 150 bucks for the compounding. He said it will smooth out all the imperfections on the paint and get rid of all swirl marks. Should I have him do it?

Hey man,

I would make it black personally - I think it would look great on a black car. Left silver it may look a little tacky. My rear mesh is black on my white car and I removed the front mesh to show the intercooler. I think black on black would look even better

As for the cpmpound - hells yeah!! Get that paint shining!

Peace,
Jonny

Body guy just called me here at work, and told me that it looks really sporty in the aluminum color so far. His workers are even complimenting the look according to him. I will see if I like the look in person. I will post pics in a week or two of the finished job, and opinions from the faithful ClubLexus style

Saw the car yesterday. I am amazed at the work so far with the bumpers. I decided to have them paint the mesh black. The silver finish was too ricey for me. Thanks fellas.

Good call......I can't wait to see the finished product.....this way you can get rid of that GTO sig and put your GS in it's place...

Personally I would paint it black. I think you want it to not stick out too much. You will still notice it if you paint it black. If you decide you want to paint it black after its installed its not hard to do. I painted the mesh on my TRD grille gunmetal almost 2 years ago and it is holding up great.
