Got my Borlas
I received my Borlas today. After looking at them, I thought they were the old style. I looked at them again, then thought they were the new style. Then I logged onto Swift Racing to look at the old style, looked at an old thread when I first noticed Borla making a new style. And the exhaust looked like the old style again. It's a lot harder in person to tell whether these suckers are new or old.
So I called Borla to ask them. I spoke with a representative, who spoke with a production manager. My Borlas were manufactured on 6/29, so they are fairly recent. He came back and told me that the production manager wasn't even aware that they had changed the look, but they were in fact using the new template. Our exhausts are hand made and the assembler actually looks up the template, then picks it out to use for building the new tip.
In person, I really don't know. So I guess I'll go by his word and hope these are the right ones. I suppose I really won't be able to tell until they are on the GS. The one thing that made me think they were old is that the out part of the tip is flattened on the top and bottom. Are the new ones like this as well?
To see both the old and new Borlas, take a look at:

perhaps this is a drawback of getting the early shipment since maybe the late shipment will be the other newer style, i dont know.
if in fact theres a difference between the one you got and the latter shipment you might call zack and ask for an exchange. but this will probably set you back another few weeks or so.

I got mine Wednesday and they look like the ones you call the old style. The inside measurment of the tips is 3.5" wide by 2.5" high. I like the way they look. They fill up the cutouts in the bumper almost all the way. The new ones look a lot like the stock ones. The part number is 11733.
For the record, the ones on Borla's website are nothing like the real SS Borlas for the GS. They simply used a stock SS picture. For the real new ones, check out my thread linked above.

either way, I'm sure I'll be pleased
Brian,
those are the OLD style tips that you received. though from the pics they do not look as square as the ones on SRT. personally, i still like the rounder, newer tip style.
man, why can't borla get the new ones out? june's production output is considered very new to me

dexter and gs4will,
i remember this topic being discussed a while back and i believe the conclusion was made that the new borlas are oval shaped and the old ones are round like the ones on the website. borla just hasnt updated the site with the new shape. IMO i think the new ovals one look much better. So brian s u did get the new style.

but at this point i'd guess that even the latter shipment is going to be the same as brian s's. guess we'll have to wait and see...

Brian,
The exhaust you edited in your post (IMO) still look a lot like mine!
I got my set from Mo over a year ago and have been very happy with them. Although, I'm going to start calling them 'Classic' Borlas instead of 'old' - I'm beginning to get a complex : ).
When you guys DO get them, get some good cleaner and KEEP them clean. It's a lot harder to get them back to shiny after you've let the buildup sit on them a while. Spray mag cleaner for chrome wheels works OK as an interim treatment for me when I don't have time to polish. I'll look around for the brand I ended up with that works well.
