Got my Borlas
Brian,
For whatever my opinion is worth I like the style of tips you got on your Borla mufflers.. The other version hangs lower and doesn't look as sleek as the ones you got..
When you get them on tell me how they sound.. I want to get those for the GS but if its too loud the little woman will WHINE.. LOL..
If its got a nice mellow sound at mild acceleration then I am a go for the Borla setup.. Its alot cheaper than the L-Tuned also..
Quick question are the tips polished stainless steel or chrome??

I wonder why Borla would put anything but the picture specific for the GS?! I mean, they go thru the trouble of creating a specific part number, why would they show a picture of the tips if they don't match?
The picture of the CF tips match the description and different part number....
I'm not asking you guys why Borla did it that way, just doesn't seem to make since to make an incorrect representation like that.
Oh well, FTR, I like the new new ones, the more oval shaped
Hook em up somebody and make a recording!
Alright, lets do some clearing up...
The SS on Borlas website aren't the real ones. The old Borlas are the ones on SRT's car. The new Borlas aren't round. They are slightly more round than SRT's. It's subtle, but enough that I can tell the difference.
From evaluation, it looks like mine are the old style. I did not order or wish for the old style. But this does not appear to be an issue of Borla getting the new ones out to market. The fellow at Borla said the new style is already in production. In fact, some of the pictures of the new Borlas I've seen were taken before my exhaust were even MANUFACTURED (mine were built on 6/29 - not long ago). I have a hunch, and it's that they still have the old template lying around. Some of the guys making our exhaust are using the old template. It would explain why some of us are getting the new style and some the old.
In any case, regardless of how well made these suckers are, I do not wish for the old style. I simply did not appreciate them before they were tweaked into the newer shape. That's my HO. So I'm gonna call Borla tommorrow, get some answers, and see what it'll take to get me a set of Borlas with the new shape.
Oh well...

dexter that's just what we needed, thanks for the side by side pics. now i get it.
brian s i agree with you the difference is subtle but not insignificant. i wish you luck with borla, i think they should take care of the problem for you. however, if borla and zack are no help let me know.
when i get mine, if they're the 'new type' i'll try to arrange a swap with you. i'm agreeable with both styles.

Hey Dominick,
I appreciate your help, both with the group buy and the offer to swap exhasts. I'm hoping (ok, expecting) a favorable outcome with the new exhaust from Borla.

Alright,
I'm getting another set built shipped to me from Borla. I'll send mine back when I get the new ones. There's no guarantee that the new set will have the right tips. I don't think the tech guy really believed me, though.

what kind of Bolts do i need to get from the auto store to put on the borlas? since the bolts are welded on the stock mufflers? does anyone know what they are called or the size? or should i just show them the bolts? I just don't want to bring the mufflers with me to the store.
thanx a lot

Guys,
Why would you want to put on the muffler yourself.. I called a few places to inquire and they told me only $65 bucks and this is in Canadian funds to install these mufflers on the GS..
Much easier to make the fine adjustments if you have the car on the lift.. Oh well just something to think of I guess..
