Hi, new to the forum. I'm planning on getting the 18 X 8.5 weds kranze cerberus for my GS300. I don't plan on lowering my car and was wondering how it would look not lowered. Any comments?

welcome.

85% of guys here would recommend lowering. esp. the rear if GS has that hugh wheel/fender gap. when you go 18s, the lower profile tyre would make it even more pronounce. some even Jokingly refer to their rides w/no lowering as mini 4x4s.

but then "appearance" is very personal matter of taste. when you want more aggressive look as most of us like, you should lower w/springs and shocks.

this is what you do, get the wheels you like, look at the new ride look, then decide if you want to lower the car. most of us do it not just for "looks", we want better suspension handling otu of our GS.

i have 18"s and 245/40's on my gs-- it is not lowered and i think it looks fine. it would probably look a little better lowered but i wouldn't worry about it just as long as u like it. i would like to lower mine for the handling aspect not b/c i think it will look that much better.

jahdish, do you have any pics of your car with the 18's? i'm really not too worried about the performance of the car right now since i can't really afford to do what i want to do anyways. the rims i can afford, but if it looks weird, then i'll just ride on the stock 16's until i get more money or another car.

I believe that if you go any bigger than 18's then the wheel to fender gap will look bigger.

For safety reason, it's better to lower your car since 18" will raise the height of the car and the handling suffer. Second, for the look, it's ugly to have huge tyre gaps IMO.

Going with 18's should not raise the height of the car if you get the proper size tires. A smaller sidewall on an 18 compared to the bigger sidewall on a 16 or 17. If the overall diameter of the setup is the same the height of the car will be the same.
