Question

Just bought a 99 GS300 used and it has no manual. Struggling with programming:

--garage door opener
--memory seats

Are there any online resources I could tap, or does anyone know where I could find a manual?

thnx

For the garage door opener, place the remote for your garage door near your lexus garage door opener and press both buttons at the same time. I believe, if memory serves me correctly, you will hear a "beep" and then signifies that the car has your garage door opener's codes. Thats about it.

Hambone, don't know about online resources... but you might try a Lexus dealer, they might even have a manual laying around.

The garage remote works as follows...

There's a tiny, tiny green LED in front of the middle remote button. Press and hold the button you want to program for at least 30 seconds, until the LED starts flashing (or stays on, I can't remember). Then hold your garage remote close and give it a good burst of signal... then your car should have it memorized.

On the seat/mirror/wheel memories...

First, you can only set/use them when the car is in Park I think.

To set - hold SET and press the 1 or 2 button at the same time - a long beep indicates it's set. Release the buttons.

To use, just press 1 or 2 when in park.

Hope that helps.

Actually, the instructions in the manual for the garage door opener (homelink) on my GS 430 were wrong. When I called Lexus they referred me to the homelink site.

http://www.homelink.com.

On my car I had to hold the two outer buttons until the red light started to blink. Then I had to push the garage door remote button and the selected homelink button at the same time until the blinking frequency changed.

when you press 1 or 2 to change the seating position, as soon as you press the brake it will stop moving the seats, so dont press the brakes to shift out of park until the seat stops.

You may have to program the actual garage door opener. You should use two people for this operation.

after programming your handeld openr to the homelink (expained in earlier posts)

Use a ladder and locate the freq button.
Have some one hold the button you programmed in the Lexus, while you hold the freq button on your garage door.

Also, I had to buy another garage door opener. Apprantly the one the came with my house was not compatiable. I believe the openers mft before 1982 are not compatible.

What kind or range are you guys experiencing with HomeLink?
I'm getting about 35 to 40 feet maximum.

I am thinking about re-programming experiments, unless this is all that can be expected.
