Default Anyone have this problem?

Hey guys...Here's a weird one...

I've had a check engine light on for a while and I went to Advance Auto parts, for the free scan, but the OBD scanner gave a read error. I took it then to Autozone to get the scan and same thing...another "Read ERROR". WTF

I'm trying to aviod having to take it to lexus for a 200 dollar diagnostic service. After all that's a TTE front lip or damn near close to it. So has anyone ever had this problem before?

Also of note, almsot 1 year ago I lost my seat memory functions...I have no idea why.

Check engine light usually pops up if there is an emissions issue. have you ever done a proffesional fuel injection cleaning on your car? The light will automatically go off after that service, if it is indeed a emissions issue.

I have a 98 GS300. 121k (if that matters)

I found a fuse in the panel for the OBD looked good but i'll change it. Is there another place to hook up to it under the hood?

No professional fuel injector cleaning done. I'm planning to have her timing belt and water pump done next week. and all the fluids changed. I'd kinda just like to aviod the dealer...lol

Check the northesat forum. I have a Amsoil guy that I've been going to for years. he can do your FI cleaning for you for a reasonable price. Your in NYC like me. If you want to go, i can meet up with you and make sue he take care of you.

not that it has to do with your cel, but I see you mentioned you are getting timing belt done. Is that your original belt with 121k on it?

I assume it is. I bought the car with 74k and all the scheduled maintance had been done, and I didn't do the 90k. So it's safe to say that it's the original belt. I gotta tell you though...it looks great. No real wear or cracks. Or tooth breakdown. But i'll be changing it out Dec.28th just to be safe.
