Now, there has to be a way to using the Navigation (GS400 - 1999) input when the car is moving - particularly if a passenger is riding.
You can on the BMW and you can with the Hertz Magellan system...

Has anyone achieved this?

This has been discussed a lot. The speed sensor is connected to the nav system (for liability reasons). If you disconnect it, you'll be able to change while you're moving, but the system will be less accurate since it doens't know you're moving unless new satelite data tells it.

No problem Maurice... if you find a solution, let me know! Now that I'm intimately familiar with the trunk of my car after installing a rear strut brace, and since I've got time on my hands, I'm tempted to try to see what's on the hard drive of the nav!!!

Default Hmm..

If the NAV HD contains the standard MS FAT file system (which it totally might be), and if it has standard graphic images (.gif, .jpg), it might be possible to customize the look of your NAV. Hehe..

Yeah! Skins for the nav...

Maybe we could change the voice samples too and have different personalities! The normal one would be 'polite' and we'd add 'bitch', '****', 'ho', and 'slave'.

That would be GREAT! I've always wanted a better looking interface for the NAV. If no pics, at least change the color! I've never liked brown in the first place.

Haha very funny, I can already hear those voices:

polite: "Please, DO make a right turn here, it would make things much easier for you AND me"

bitch: "Make a fu*king right turn here, dam* it! Why are you so fu*king ignorant! Move it now, B*TCH!"

sorry if those words make someone mad.
