Default Bad heads?

How can you tell if your head needs to be replaced? Is there any sign?

Are you talking about the head gasket?

Maybe the timing of your car is off?

Yeah you're right GTFM, since the timing belt change I have had the high idling problem, p1349 and VSC and VSC OFF lights lit up. Took it to the dealer Friday and they said I need a new head. They want $4000.00 (four thousand). I told him he was full of it and to just put it back together and I will get a second opinion. My mistake was telling them upfront that I did the timing belt change myself. The other day when I went in, they said they needed 6 hours of diagnostics @ $90.00 an hour. I told them no way. So a few days later they cut it down to 2 hours. Sounds like a lot of BS right there. Today when they called me, they said they would only charge me 1 hour diagnostics. I'm greatful for that but there is a whole lot more behind of this that is too long to get into. I know, and they know that I will NEVER take my car there again. I will just drive it 100 miles to next closest Lexus dealer, Hendrick Lexus in Charlotte. I have an appointment Monday with them.

This tech here is the one that also said that i did not "preload" the camshaft crank. But in my other thread, no one could even tell me what that meant. So once again, I call BS.

Any chance you swapped you spark plug wires around by accident ? If not, kinda sounds like timing.

Nope, it's not the spark plugs. This was happening before I changed those. What I am hoping is that the timing was off just enough to make it idle but not do any damage and after the dealer puts everything back together and gets it on time correctly, I am hoping the problem clears up. That would be the funniest thing to get my timing fixed for $85.00! But we'll see today when I pick it up.
