Default Hood closing problems when Cold!

When its cold i have noticed that when i open my hood then closed it it doesnt close! it will click in that first click but wont shut all the way and lock!! i had to drive for about a hour & a half yesterday with it not althe way closed then i reopened it and closed it it closed! So i dunno like i said this is the second time it happened and both times it was cold out side!!!

Also my 98 DOESNT have a override cable so that suckes i called the dealer and they said not my model!!!

any suggestions?? it doesnt seem bad enought to get "___??___" replaced but i atleast need to know if this has happened to anyone else??

P.S. i did a search with no luck!

Not over here what's the purpose of opening the hood before you drive. I could see for a show or changing or checking the oil maybe I confused by your question. My hood shut just fine really with out a lot of pressure at all just a little soft touch.

Default hood cable

Thats another one of those common problems with the 98 GS, you need a new cable if I remember correctly. Mines is doing the same thing now, after I drive for a while it will shut, when I try closing again.

HUH??? Obviously i had to check something under the hood that was the purpose for opening it!! Do u think i just open it for show EVERY TIME IT GETS COLD??

ANYWAY, Yeah thats what happens after awhile i can shut it! So its a cable in general that keeps it close NOT a override cable correct?? Because when i called Lexus and asked them is there a override cable they said no! So would u say something had to replaced "the hustler07" or do u think its "do-able" to keep right now?

THANKS!!!!

There is no "override" mode for the hood. Do you park your vehicle outside or inside your garage? When I wash my vehicle in the winter, I may have problem opening the gas refill door because of ice. However no problem closing my hood and the winter can get very cold here

No i didnt try WD-40 because it didnt seem as thought it would work i pressed the latch in and out with a screw driver and it moved perfectly, i really didnt understand this!

I park in a garage and Both times it happened it was in the garage i dunno like i said it seems after the car warms up for atleast a halfhour it works!

Ok well thanks for all the help, i guess i'll have to take it from here!!

Thanks

Its up to you Kia, i've been driving around for like a month and 1/2 with the problem. I know when I get to my destination get out and close the hood. I'll get it fixed when I buy my l-tuned grill.

same happens to mine.
if you don't want to drive around with the hood not fully latched then you can go into the car
and reach behind the hood release and force the steel cable back into the plastic housing
with your fingers. This will allow the hood to latch. The cold causes the tension of the hood release cable to lighten so you have to help it along.
