Default How much can you shave?

Just wondering, I did some research and saw the pics that RMMGS4 post about shaving the fenders. I shaved mine down to the screws. How much further can you go? There is about a half inch left. Can you take the screws out and shave down more, or do you guys suggest not doing that? Just wondering in case I need more clearance.

Thanks

We always discuss the fender modding / shaving but could you guys all post some pics of EXACTLY what you did? I would like to know for future reference and its tough to convey with words alone. We all know what a picture's worth!!

take off the whole molding mike, you need to shave off the whole thing, not just up to the screw. take off the plastic tab and you can shave it all the way

Yup. Like I said in the other thread, with your offsets, I don't think you can get away with shaving part of it. Maybe you can meet up with Ken to see his fender but I checked it out at EOS and that sucker was gone.

Are you asking what part is shaved or how to do it?

Kewl deal, I'll shave it all the way. All these body shops kept telling that I couldn't. Even the one that I took it too, said they got the car up the in air, took off the wheels and said it couldn't be done.

Here's my suggestion, and what I have done.

First, take the molding off of the wheel well completely, and dont put it back on. Then if you look at the lip, you will see some spots that are spot welded....basically these are holding the two sheets of sheet metal together. I cut the lip back to the point where the spot welds are, I did not go past that....I didnt want to jeprodize the integrity of the seam.....my body shop said the same thing about not going past the welds. I then rolled what was left of the lip up where needed, which was dead center in the wheel well, and only about two inches worth of rolling.

This works for me.

So Henry, just to clarify, I can take of the black strip with the screws, and shave the entire lip of in the rear fender? So that I am left with a flat edge inside the wheel well.
