How much can you shave?
Both!

For the how, I'll repeat what I posted there:
Anyway, I've used the belt sander like the other NorCal guys. This was to take the initial 5 mm or so. This took about 30 minutes/side. Since that initial shave, I decided to take a couple more off and getting as close as possible to the screws that hold the black trim. One side was done using a dremel. This took a long time. I can't even remember but it was over an hour and many blades later. I did the other side using an angle grinder. This was much faster (about 15 minutes). It only took this long only because I was being careful not to over shoot since this was more fine tuning. I don't know how fast this would have been on the initial shave since it was more but it should be pretty fast too. The only thing I noticed was that the angle grinder outputs more debris so you definitely need to tape up the paint to protect it. The dremel did not have this adverse affect.
When you roll the fenders, you are acting on this same lip. Instead of cutting it off, you manually or with a rolling tool bend this lip upwards to get it out of the way. Some don't like this because it stresses the fender and the paint on the fender. If not careful, it can crack the paint. I've only heard about this as I have not heard anyone report that the cracking happened. But then again, many do not like to report their "mistakes".
I hope this clears up what all this means.

Kewl deal, I'll shave it all the way. All these body shops kept telling that I couldn't. Even the one that I took it too, said they got the car up the in air, took off the wheels and said it couldn't be done.
Show those body shops the pictures on these two posts:

As said already, you can remove the black trim and shave almost all of it off. Apply some rust preventing paint and your done.

So Henry, just to clarify, I can take of the black strip with the screws, and shave the entire lip of in the rear fender? So that I am left with a flat edge inside the wheel well.
just shave all the way

Most of my friends and I we usually roll our fenders, never really dabbled with the thought or process shaving them.
Yer Welcome Johnny !
Here's my inner fender lip shaved TO THE MAX. Only about 1/8 inch thick. What you see is all the inner part of the wheel well is now primered and then the last step will be to spray undercoat .
With the right offset wheel, you can now stuff a 305/25-20 tire on a 11 x 20 rim with absolutely no rubbing at any ride height.

Here's a view looking straight up at the fender edge. You are looking at my garage ceiling in the background.

Celebrating Lexus & Toyota from Around the Globe

But what will you ever do if snow chains are ever required, Poyet?
but it came out real nice. I'm going to primer it soon Like Poyet, I'm also running a 10 1/2 rim with 275/30(had 265, but tire was a little messed up)
This is a VERY easy DIY
Thanks again .....Nice to know my next set of rims wil be super aggressive
