OK last nite i picked up an LSd off of supra forums
its from a 1996 supra
now i know the Lsd was optional for 96-98
the guy called me and told me when he spun only one side spun
now does this mean its not LSD ...i thought it needed some resistance
also is there a way to tell from the VIN
thanks so much johnny

The Torsen diff is a standard fitment to all 6 speed mkiv's, alot of the Auto TT's and you'll even occasionally find it on a NA. You can tell if your Supra has a Torsen diff by reading the Trans/Axle code on the Engine Tag which is situated under your bonnet. The last letter of the 4 character code (eg. B03B) denotes the diff type which is "A" for a std diff and "B" for a Torsen diff.
where is the bonnet on a supra ????

If I could roll into a shop here locally and drop $5K or less out the door I would go FI... however, to make any power that would drop times further than just a TC and LSD you are looking at way more $$$ than that and to me it's just not worth it either...Originally posted by lexforlife

and this is just hypothetical because there is no where here in Tampa with the experience of SRT when it comes to our cars so it is a mute point anyway.

If one tire spins, you do not have limited slip, I think you will have the shorter 3.76 gears though
I'm sure I'll get a lot of crap for asking this question, but here goes it. What does Fl stand for? I've seen you guys tosses this term around for a while and I can't for the life of me figure it out. Thanks.

If one one side spins it's like not an LSD - now one side can 'slip-slip-slip' a little as traction is given to the other wheel, but one wheel will never spin.Originally posted by T.L.W.

i can't understand how only ONE side spins....
even with the stock differential, if you let everything hanging, if you spin one side, the other side will spin the other way. there is no way only one side spins.... if so, you don't even have differential....
and with the torsen, the problem is that when you spin one side, the other side will STILL spin the opposite direction. that's the nature of torsen, coz' you have no traction on the other side at all.
it's very hard to prove a torsen type
