I just bought my first Lexus. It's a CPO '01 GS 300 with 45K miles, some scratches in the finish but you have to look close to find most of them. About what I'd expect from a car that's been driven around. I think I did ok with the price,23.3.
I've been ready posts on CL the last couple days. They helped solidify my wanting a Lexus.
Anyhow, I'm in Maine and will be looking into snow tires. I've driven a light pickup no 4wd in the snow for the last 7 years, so I think I set there.
Is there anything else I should consider right away, fuel injector cleaner etc?
Welcome to Club Lexus... Your home away from home...
If the dealer hasn't already, I would go ahead and flush all your fluids. Get all new oil, tranny, coolant, diff, and brake fluids... This will help keep you at peace of mind knowing that you are running all new fluids...
Fuel injector cleaner may also be a good idea since we don't know what kind of gas the previous owner was using. Good luck and enjoy your car... Here are Club Lexus you will learn everything you need to know about your car.
One last thing, please check out our vendor section for any parts (aftermarket or OEM) you may need for your car. The classifed section is also a great place to pick up used parts from other members...
It's silver. It wasn't even on my radar until a week ago.
I test drove an ES 6 - 8 weeks ago and was focusing on those. Only thing was that I liked the look of the '02 ES better. But they were out of my price range and I read that they have more problems with the redesign ect.
Then I saw the GS online last week and started to research it. It helped that my wife liked the look of the GS over the ES, said it looked sportier . The '01 ESes were both from NY, had more mileage, and more damage to their finish. The GS was only listed about 3K higer so I went that route.
I can't wait till I go to work monday so I can show it off to my coworkers. Lol.

The dealer said that all the fluids were flushed and changed. I'll be visiting their service dept to get any Lexus service records.
for the car in the snow, just make sure you take it easy first and see how it goes. i have heard stories about the gs not doing very well in the snow. and make sure you put the car in snow mode to begin wtih
