i think it looks more like a fancier, sportier and classier Avalon (especially the nose)

the maxima front is buck-toothed (this was already heavily debated on maxima.org way back when)

Yes, the 2006 GS does resemble the Maxima and here is why:

1) 2006 GS closely resembles profile of current generation GS
2) Maxima and Altima copied profile of current generation GS
3) Therefore, 2006 GS resembles Maxima

To those who think Lexus copied Maxima or Altima, give me break and open your eyes. If anything, it was the other way around. As soon as the new Altima redesign came out a few years ago I thought it closely resembled the profile of the GS.

I am not too enthusiastic about the pics of the 2006 GS, inside or out. However, I am waiting to see the car in person. I will be excited to compare it to the 2006 Infiniti M35/45. I am pretty sure I will be buying one of them sometime next year.

I am not saying they copied anyone. I am just disappointed that the new GS looks so generic. When you look at the second generation GS, you know exactly what it is. Not so with the third gen design. I am hoping it will grow on me, but for now I am still not a fan.

Just my $.02

HUH???

You saying that the maxima and altima was copied off the current GS. Well I have them side by side in my drive way and the only thing I see in coming is that they have the same color. Current GS looks nothing like the Maxima Old or new. Anyway, 06 GS will have win over the upcoming Infiniti M45 crowd. M45 on paper looks a lot more aggressive and than the GS. Plus the interior really stands out more. Can't wait for comparison, as much as I love my GS 430, I am leaning towards the M45 to win on looks and power by .2 points.

You cannot blame Lexus for making something so avante-garde, Knock-off Nissan copies damn near 3 cars to replicate. The GS profile has been stolen but Nissan couldn't begin to figure out design details on the 2nd gen GS let alone the 3rd gen.

It is not Lexus fault Maxima/Altima/G35 rental cars copied the GS style. Hell the LS 430 looks like an old Benz.

You must have looked hard for that sweet yellow two tone Max. That needs to be posted in the yellow car thread too

This story is too funny. That guy is in Atlanta. I wish I had my camera but I saw him leaving the mall once. What a small world.
