Wondering if any of you has had problems in setting up the Homelink? I know you are suppose to keep the button you want to setup held and wait until the light starts blinking. I have done that, but everytime I press the button it start flashing fast and it doesn't work???

Any suggestions!!!

Don't ask me how
It's a pain in the ***. I tried every once in a while for a few months and gave up. Then finally I got it. You have to hold the homelink button down for a sec to open the door even after it's programmed. Make sure you are holding the button down long enough to activate. Also, I remember varying from the directions a little the time I finally got it to work. Just experiment a little, you MIGHT get it.

One other possibility -- there are certain garage door openers that won't allow you to capture the signal for security reasons. There's a way to do it, but I haven't figured out how. We have a three-car garage (one big door and one small door), and I cannot program the small door.

i have a feeling that it's coz' your garage door opener is using the running code, which is the newer type.

to program that, after you do what you mentioned, you have to press the learn button on the garage door opener (you need to find that button), and then press the button you just programmed. that will get it going

I was thinking the same thing when I first read this until chuckb chimed in. I wanted to see if the two with problems responded that it is a range problem (like chuckb) or a programming problem.

Definitely check to see what type of garage opener you have.

Mine is the running code style, I think that's why it was "tricky" to program. Range was not my problem.

Thanks for all the help guys...it did work. I do have the rolling code for the garage door. Hope this helps you guys...this is what i did...and i'm pretty sure it varies based on the garage door you have.

1. Press and hold the desired Homelink button that you would like to program.
2. Have someone else press the memory button on the garage door receiver.
3. Once it is set (on mine, the receiver clicked one time) let go of the Homelink button as well as the garage button.
4. Your Homelink will now be set!!!

Hope that helps!!!

Try all 3 buttons. My center and right button worked but the one all the way on the left wouldn't take.
