New Torque Converter installed!!
I *finally* got my new Precision Industries torque convertor installed!!
Through a friend, i had a local family owned tranny shop do it and they only charged me $325, I had previously purchased the fluid. Looks like they only used 8 qts. They don't like the "power flush" due to the high pressures involved and potential problems it can cause with certain seals. Guess I'll save the other 8qts for a fluid change next year.
So, THANKS TO JPI for the TC Group Buy for Club Lexus members recently. The whole thing certainly isn't cheap though when you consider fluids, installation and the cooler too! BTW, I got a B&M SuperCooler from Summit Racing.
The car drives great! Couldn't be happier.
It also downshifts from 5th to 4th more easily which makes passing people more 'responsive' feeling.
Last week I was at the drag strip and ran 14.55 at 97mph. (2.2x 60' time) Todays' weather is similar and Test & Tune is tonight so I'm going back to see what kind of improvement I get. Woooohoooo!
I'll post stats of the runs later tonight.

Watch your launch with the TC! First (and only so far) time I went to the track was with an open differential and the 2800 stall TC. I burned up one wheel halfway down the track and am still picking rubber off the bottom of my car.
Advise - go out and do a lot of practice launching. VSC off, power mode, ac off brake torque and launch.

Mine's still in the box in the garage
Just no time to get it done yet...
Don't know if you have a LSD or not, but you should be able to get down in the low 14s with a good launch no prob.
Great price on the install too!

Another happy TC owner. You will love it......no lags at all in the shifts. I had my TC on for about 2 months now. It is the single best mod I have done and no regrets here except that I should have had it installed earlier.
I am having a very tough time trying to keep the tires from smoking. It takes a great deal of skill to launch the car in such a way as not to loose crucial seconds to wheels spin. Like DaveGS4 says it requires a lot of practice. I have been been able to get 0-60mph on my G-timer to be 5.6-5.7 seconds on a good launch and 5.5 on a exceptional launch. If I smoke the tires to much my times are 6.0-6.1 seconds. But the car most definitely feels faster in every gear.
I thought I could get away with not getting a LSD. I have since changed my position on that and looking to install a 3.76 LSD supra rear to help me eliminate the spin. Talked to hameed, bitukana and a few other members and everyone has given me the thumbs up on this as a must mod.
The problem is that these MUST mods cost MUCH money $$$
Henry, have you installed both the TC and 3.76 LSD? Not many members running this exact setup except for Bitukana, RMMGS4, and JacobT. Any other members running these exact 2 mods?

Drew-you're gonna feel the same way about the 3.76 LSD mod that you do about the TC! After I did mine, I was amazed at the difference. I can only imagine once I get my TC done too
Yeah, Henry is running both the TC and LSD-I'll be joining the club any day now...

Future, I been out of the loop this past month because of the birth of my new baby daughter. Did you and Henry do a writeup on the 3.76 LSD? If so please send or post me the link.
Also, on average on how much will labor cost be to install the LSD?

Labor isn't too bad on the Supra LSD, I think it was about $150 or so.

IT'S OFFICIAL!!!! I'm freakin waay faster!!!

old 60' - 2.259
new 60' - 2.043
old 330' - 6.273
new 330' - 5.922
old ET: 14.55@97.68
new ET: 14.17@97.76
I'm ecstatic! 4 tenths. WOW!
and I know I'm eek'n for more like anyone else, but, I gotta tell ya.....1. The air was not quite as good as the old reference run, 2. I had 4gal. more gas, 3. I had 89 octane gas! I suck! The gas in the tank was supposed to be 'wasted' in trips to work, then all of a sudden, BAM! I got "the call" to have the car to the shop! I was tempted to buy 2 gallons of 110 octane race gas to balance things out!!
I did keep everything else the same. Tire pressures, no air filter, spare tire out, e-shift.
All launches were by stabbing the throttle this night. Not enough time to try to "stall" against the converter with the tree counting down. Maybe next time.
Perfect traction tonight too. Not a single problem!
hahahaha Your guys' track must suck! hahahaha
Next up: a nice video like GS400_Gavin!
lol!

Congrats on the upgrade. I've been debating this mod for awhile but am too hesitant as my car is just about to pass 150,000 miles. Thanks alot for the before and after times and get ready to burn through tires that much quicker!

ARRGGHHHH!!!
