Talking Spent the day at TM Engineering!!

Here's a hint at what I did today:

Yes, I finally got the 3.76 LSD installed by Todd M. @ TM Engineering. Man, this thing looks seriously heavy duty and I can't wait to put some power down in the corners without VSC kicking in and ruining the fun!
I will post (for those interested) my impressions when I get a chance to really check it out- I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic all the way home!
I also recorded the RPM at various speeds with stock gearing and the LSD- there has been some question in other threads about the difference in RPMs.
While there, Todd also installed the Tom's RLCB and RSTB for me (easier to do on a lift) Here's a pic of the RLCB installed:

Yes, I notice an improvement with this and the rear strut bar together. Feels more stable on high speed sweeping curves than before.

Congrats! You should have noticed the car felt more responsive immediately with the new diff.

I sure did! I was e-shifting and in 2nd gear nailing the gas really snaps your head back!
I'll do a little more "testing" today, but I know I'm gonna love it! Next- PI torque converter and trans cooler...

Congrats!!!!

How does the car feel from a dead stop on hard acceleration compared to before you did the mod?

The LSD looks brand new! Did you buy it brand new? (Somehow I doubt that as I don't think those LSD's are made any more).

I have a Supra TT 3.76 rear diff with LSD sitting in my garage waiting to be installed as soon as my mechanic has time to do it. From the pics you posted it looks like the exhaust and RLCB have to come off to do this mod. I can't wait! How many hours was your install for the LSD?

Cool Thanks for the props guys...

Hameed- With the lower gearing the car really "jumps" off the line when you nail the throttle from a standstill! Pulls real hard through the lower gears too of course. On the freeway, 80 mph is 3k rpm so you are in the sweet spot and it's very responsive. Downshifting to 4th is
Yes, the diff is brand new-they are still available (and expensive) but Todd made me a great deal on the parts and install costs (thanks Todd!)
The RLCB was not yet installed when he did the diff., and yes you do need to move the exhaust out of the way. It took Todd about 2 hours or so to do it. You will need a trans jack and a lift of course to do the job.
Should be able to get it done for around $150 or so for labor if you pay a pro.
The best part is being able to put down some serious power through the corners without VSC kicking in or spinning a tire with VSC off.

Maybe rominl knows about the years that fit, but I don't. You want to make sure to get the Torsen limited slip Supra diff. (some models had an open diff.) if you get it used. Maybe a call to Carson Toyota and talk to Gordon about specific years and parts numbers would be best?
I just had Todd get mine thru his sources so I don't have that info for you.

Thumbs up

Yeah, Todd M. is great to deal with. Nice guy and very competent and knowledgeable too!
Had a chance to test the "enhanced performance" capability with the LSD today!
I left the e-shift in 2nd going through a tight 90 degree sweeping turn on the fwy. on ramp with the VSC turned off. At about 3,500 rpm I nailed it and the car just hooked up! Very slight tail out over steer (a good thing) and then I was GONE!!
Worth every penny...
