My comment was directed at EVERYONE in the thread making offhand personal comments; you are mistaken if you think it was aimed soley at your post. You will notice I did not quote your post or mention anyone by name.
However, I will now ask you specifically since you just chose to continue the conflict after I asked politely to keep the thread on topic with another unneccessary personal comment (quoted above).
Please do not make us close this valuable thread for our members and lets all keep this on topic.

The GS430 is 300 horsepower, 325 torque and 0-60 in 5.6 sec. A real beast on the road.....can't wait.
So we know the price and performance several months before the intro?
The % break down in allocation does not seem to match the usual trend which is usually about 70, 15, 15.
Do you have the weight of the 300 ?

I guess Lexus considers Infiniti "inferior". The 2005 E320 has 221hp and 232 lb/ft torque, MSRP 49k for RWD base model, 4-MATIC optional. The 2005 530i has 225hp and 214 lb/ft torque, MSRP 46k with no option for AWD. 530i has optional manual and SMG trannys, so that's a plus. SMG is very nice.
The main competitiors for the GS are the E and the 5. Even though the new M35/M45 looks great and should be wonderful cars, eventually people won't consider the Infiniti in the same class as the GS/E/5 series circle.

Infiniti will definitely not agree with you. They are inferior now (but then again who isn't compared to Lexus) but as they showed with the G35 things are looking up. Oh and the 530 will have an x (AWD) option next year and the HP will go up to 258. You also left out the new RL and A6 as competitiors. And the E class baseline will be the E350 with 272HP and the 7 speed Gtronic tranny (probably 6s 0-60 times) by the time the GS comes out in real numbers.

It's unclear if Mercedes will bring over the 3.5L V6 or not. It seems like they were expected to do so in the CLK next year, and decided not to, and there has been no official word about the E Class so we'll have too wait and see. The new 530i is getting 258HP next year though, the new A6 3.2 makes 255HP, the M35 will be making ~275-280HP, the STS V6 makes 255HP, the E320 makes 221HP (for now), and the RL (while a good bit more expensive, makes 300HP...and the GS300 with 245HP. If the new GS430 debuts with 300HP, it will also be the least powerful engine in it's class. I know transmissions and weight play a big part, but talking RAW performance numbers, Lexus is sitting on the bottom rung right now.
Pretty disappointing for the company that had the fastest 4 door in the world back in late '97.

That was short lived when Jaguar brought out their XJS sedan. Then the world's fastest automatic sedan title got yanked from the GS400 in less than a year unfortunately. I still have that issue when Motor Trend awarded the Lexus GS 1998 MT Car of the Year from Feb 98, one of my favorite MT issues.

Plus, they are the same size as the current GS. Unless the bolt pattern has changed, people who invested in expensive wheels for the current GS can (if they want) transfer the wheels to the new GS.

man, for what it's worth, i actaully want the new GS to take lower offset wheels that's the only chance for more lip action
