Default door sensor help

this is probably a dumb question but,
where is the door sensor for the rear doors. when my left passenger door is open the light doesn't come on in the instrument panel. i'm thinking when i had my car repainted when it was time to paint the door jams some paint may have interferred with the sensor.
thanks!

Door ajar sensor is part of the locking mechanism.

Did it happen recently or you just noticed it now?

Early '98 had what I call factory defect and the mechanism was upgraded. We have had couple of threads on this issue.

I have the same problem (my GS400 is a 98). In fact, the car doesn't even realize that the door is open and resets the alarm, which can be a real pain because the alarm usually goes off not too long after this happens.
