clearing out the yellow inside rear lights
Hey there, has anyone tried removing the yellow plastic reflector thing inside the rear light housing? how hard was it to split the housing open and to glue them back together again?
thanks.

you don't have to split anything open. From the back of the fog light you remove the bulb. You should use either a screw driver and break the class (kind of a pain in the *** and you might mess up your fog), or you can use a dremel tool to cut the yellow glass. Once it is broke just remove all of the yellow glass and you should be done. It really isn't that hard.
I think he is referring to the rear lights, not the fog lights. If that is the case, you may not want to tamper with that housing. Some people in the SC forum had talked about doing something similar to that, and there is a risk of not being able to fully seal the housing again. I've seen instances where moisture builds up inside headlamp housings. It's not a very attractive sight.
Since i got my new 2001 tail lights i have my old set to play with. Well i was going to try to clear the whole tail light out just for fun since i had no use of them anymore.
Well i unscrewed all the screws on the back to see if it would pop out . Nope. Tried prying it out . It was time to go to bed so i gave up . I decided to try when i had some spare time.
So i gave up and left them alone. If anyone knows how to seperate the lens cover from the housing i will experiment again.

my brother told me once that he saw a GS300 that got rear-ended. The right rear light shattered, and he said the light is consisted of a WHOLE PIECE OF ORANGE, the entire shape. Then the top and bottom red are 2 pieces that cover the top and bottom, leaving the orange in the middle showing.
If it's like that, then it must be hard to just cut the center orange out.

yeah that's around the price a shop has listed on HYPERREV Aristo. But that Japanese shop you can just buy a new pair for 90000 yen without sending them yours.

I have seen lenses taken apart for other cars before, if you have an extra set it is worth a try. Remove all screws, heat edges of lense with heat gun on low, slowly work around outside of lense. If the glue is temperature sensative it will soften and you can slowly pull the lense off. with the lense off you can then telll if the orange part is a insert or part of the lense. If it is two parts then pull out the orange heat up the glue and push everything back together. Use the screws to help hold the parts together while they cool. It would be great if someone tried this! If someone does take pictures of the process and I would love to put them on my site.
