Sheild under front bumper question?
The other day I installed my recently acquired Greddy Front Lip. During the installation process I removed the plastic type shield that sits under the engine. This is the piece that bolts to the underside of the front bumper and the back of it attaches to the front crossmember.
I'm guessing this was put there for noise reduction and possibly aerodynamic reasons.
Question: Is there any reason that I should re-install this? What are the advantages/disadvantages of taking this off?
Thanks

I'd imagine it also keeps road dust and grime out of the engine bay as well...I mean, if the factory put it there, there's gotta be a good reason in order to keep costs down.

hey ed
that shield must be put back .. its to keep water for splashing up in front of the eng and also for aerodynamics , it smooths the air flow under the car and prevents turb within the engine bay under hood..

You MUST put it back one. I knew this guy once who removed his bottom shield and all it took was a road pebble/chip/whatever to tear through his oil pan at high speed and destroyed his bottom end by the end of his trip.
