Question Checking roots

Hey

What cars (if any) did you guys mod before you got a GS?
It seems alot of people are into baller status on their GSs while others go for the boy racer look

I was wondering if our car roots had anything to do with it

me:

00 EBP Civic SI ($10k + invested)
95 integra ($6k invested)

i have to admit, i miss vtec alittle bit =) my old cars were like super go-karts

Super go-carts...heheh. I have too many previously to mention, but the last couple were 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (still use it) and a 1992 BMW 525i (great highway cruiser). With regards to VTEC, it seems to me (by the seat of my pants) that VVT-i works the same in concept, no? I got the Lexus because our family is getting bigger and the back seats of a 3000GT VR-4 weren't very practicle if the kids get over 5 years old. I came to the conclusion I wanted luxury and power and *poof*..the GS400 is here today.

check it out

http://www.billzilla.org/vvtvtec.htm

itll explain the wonders of variable timing.
VVT-I sucks....the newer Toyo version of it VVTL-I i smore similar to hondas VTEC (two cam settings)

http://www.corollaperformance.com/TechInfo/VVTLi.html

anyway,

VVT in the GS doesn't have the feeling that it does in my old little SI. It was like you fired a rocket booster in the civic when the vtec kicked in a 6000. The other great thing about that car was its redline well into 8000....i miss it.

im only 21, but my list is pretty long:

1989 Pontiac Boneville (hand me down and sold it) - POS
1992 Mitsubishi Diamante - another POS and sold it
1993 Nissan Maxima SE - i LOVED this car (2nd only to my GS) and i TOTALED it
1993 Nissan Maxima - (not an SE) didnt like this car and sold it
1995 Mazda Millenia S - SWEEEEEET A$$ ride... had EVERY option my GS had, but in a 1995 model this
car was FWD and awesome in snow... some OLD lady made a left turn in front of
me while i was going straight through an intersection ($8000 in damage and they
fixed it ) car was NEVER the same and traded it in for my GS

thats my life story of cars and i have had my GS since 2/03 and love it. its been a long rode but things happen for a reason i guess

*sigh* memories.....

1984 white Toyota pickup w/ a camper (POS)
1995 Toyota Celica Hatch
2001 Lexus IS300 GGP (Modded) (I just sold her and I really really miss her)
2001 GS300 Black (way more practical and I love the interior plus seems like a funner car to mod)
***NExt week I'm picking up a 1984 Cresida to beat around in.... official 1st date car!!! ****
btw I'm 23.... does age really matter?

my fav car has got to be the IS300 then the celica..... after a little more work into the GS we'll see how well she'll turn out.
