Default Nav update covered by waranty???

I have an 00 gs400, the nav is getting perty dated. Wondering if I can get a free update. A service guys said it would be about $350.00 I am still under factory warranty. Also, wondering how much they should charge me for a rear wheel alignment

Thanks,
Mike

I've read other folks say they got one free update under warranty. I got one thrown in for my LS when I bought it last year (still had the original 98 nav).

the service guy that i dealt with said that 98 GS's and 99 GS's got the free update, but 00 didnt doesnt make too much sense to me. wondering if there is anything i can say. If you look when my nav was last updated, it was in 99. So it has never been updated. You think if I complained enough I could get it

The DVD map in my GS is also dated.

A new turnpike was built in here Dallas over the past five years. It was opened in sections. The navigation in both of my cars only shows that a piece of the turnpike exists.

This was very annoying since the turnpike is now a major artery. I decided to drop around $170 to get a new CD for my BMW. The 2003 CD (from NavTech) still didn't have the entire turnpike! I guess it takes a couple of years for them to digitize a new road.

I am now gun-shy about spending even more money to update my GS.

I am torn between not getting the full use of my navigation versus wasting money on an update that may not have all the new roads.

well, it's all about whether they wanna do it or not. i mean, even with my 03 is3, if there is a new update, technically i still have to BUY the new dvd. bottom line, it's not covered under warranty at all. if anything it's all under good will

I spoke to my local dealer today and they said that a new nav DVD for my 01 GS 300 would not covered by the warranty.

I guess the 2003 disc is available right now. Anyone know when the 2004 disc will be released?

What happends if your current DVD gets a scratch on it and becomes unreadable, wouldn't that be covered under warranty?
