you have no idea how long i've wanted to be able to post a picture on club lexus.

started browsing club lexus in 2001.

i bought the digital camera christmas of 2002. i was hoping the teenagers in the house would show me how to use it. but they only messed with it for a day or two.

got my gs400 in march 2003 and the wife's in sept 2003.

and finally get a picture up on the last day of january 2004.

this is the day of days to me

thanks!

well the camera was something like $300

oh you probably want to know the cost of the chrome trunk bar
that is $105 including shipping from carson toyota.

by the way it is the real trunk bar, it is a genuine toyota part. and not a 3m stick on one.

congrats on getting the pic up.All you had to do was ask for some help a long time ago though The bar looks good too.Straighten up the GS and the 400 though they look a little crooked@_@ or just take them off altogether

i never noticed that they were crooked but after i stared at the picture i think you are onto something.

asking for help is a tough one. but the response i got from guys on this board was great. no one ever made me feel stupid. in fact the response was we've all be there.

thank you

Get the OEM replacement part that replaces the existing bar. It is attached by 4 bolts . Two of them serve to hold the trunk key assembly. Its not a difficult replacement but be careful tightening the two inner bolts that hold the key assembly. Make sure the key barrel is centered in the trunk bar hole before you tighten the bolts or else you risk damaging or cracking the bar. Here's a picture of what it looks like up close.

You need to pull back the trunk cover lining to get access to the screws.
Let me know if you need more details. This was one of my first DIY projects.

Good luck

i got the idea from that thread and it has quite a few pictures. i think i read somewhere that it is only about a 20- 30 minute install.

i'm getting one for my other car but it is on backorder
