Default New Optima-Type Battery Question

Hey everyone,

I am a little confused and am receiving no help from the company I am attempting to purchase from, so I thought I would ask a more educated crowd.

I have a '98 GS 300 with 6000K HID upgrade and soon a upgraded audio system with new amp, speakers, and sub. I mention this as it may drain on the battery in some cases.

I have a link from ebay (sorry mod's.. its the only pic I have on hand and this is not benefiting me in any way ).. of a new Yellow-Top that I am wondering will work in a GS without fitment or other problems.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ory=33574&rd=1

The model is D34/78-950.

Thanks for the help.

Capt,

I use the optima yellow top with almost the exact same system as you are purchasing and it's great. There are some fittment concerns as it is smaller than the OEM battery.

Dex had a DIY somewhere that wrote up what I did to make it fit (he did the same thing to his), looking for it now.

Ah. Thanks Dave. Although smaller it is more powerful right?

EDIT: By the way, thanks for searching for the little write up.

I hope I researched this correctly. lol.

That's the right model (I asked the same question here when I bought mine ).

One thread on fittment

Here's the writeup Dex did on the fix to raise the optima up a little so the OEM cables reach better (solution to the above thread). This was the one I wanted to link in and wasn't easy to find on Dex's website since his links are messed up and it's hidden at the bottom of the intake painting thread.

You might want to consider upgrading the connectors like I'm thinking about here while you're changing it out... I haven't got around to doing that yet

No problemo - I just remembered all those threads since I started most of 'em .

On the battery tray - most auto places that sell batteries will give it to you for free... if you buy it from ebay, you might even get it shipped in one - it's the little plastic tray that the battery sits in on in the sales rack.

Default Optima tray update

I purchased a red top for my RX from Pep Boys and noticed that the snap on trays are now sold with the optima battery. I picked an extra one and fitted it to the red top in the GS400 and discarded the jury rigged riser. New yellow tops should be sold similarly with the tray.

The height is no longer a problem. Reaching the post is still a streach

Default shipping

Shipping should be more than $15 on that because i ordered two for my trunk since my subs and amps drain so much power. shipping was around $27.
