Question Disconnecting CD changer

Hi,
I have lots of problems with my MP3 player (Dension Gateway Lite BT). As a last resort before I smash this P.O.S., I want to try to disconnect the factory CD changer. The Dension comes with a Y cable and emulates a CD changer (or minidisc player). The head unit (the Pioneer one) sees both and can change between the two. (If the Dension works at all...) Maybe they are conflicting with each other.
My question is, if I just simply unplug the factory changer unit, would that cause any error codes os dashlights or the head unit to not work properly as it doesn't see the changer, or anything? Or is it completely safe to disconnect?

You can disconnect it with no negative effects. I actually removed mine completely for weight reduction and my stereo system still works fine, subwoofer and everything.

Thanks for the confirmation. I unplugged it. I hope it helps or else I'd have to redo it...

Edit: it didn't solve the problems. So I do it again and reconnect... Damn Dension crap.
